We are pleased to announce the release of DEV2.3—The GreenTeach Framework, a key deliverable of the Erasmus+-funded project Transforming Teaching for a Greener Planet (GreenTeach). This comprehensive report outlines a new framework for enhancing green and sustainability competencies among Vocational Education and Training (VET) educators.
Sustainability is a complex and multidimensional concept that involves environmental responsibility, social equity, and economic resilience. Addressing these interconnected challenges requires not only innovative solutions but also a shift in how education prepares future professionals. This report highlights education's crucial role— specifically VET—in equipping students with the green skills and interdisciplinary mindset needed to tackle the pressing issues of climate change and sustainable development.
Developed through in-depth research conducted across Bulgaria, Italy, Romania, and Turkey, the report draws from both qualitative and quantitative methodologies to explore the integration of sustainability in VET. It identifies existing skill gaps and provides clear, actionable recommendations for building educators' capabilities in line with the European Sustainability Competence Framework (GreenComp).
This effort is the result of strong collaboration among six partner institutions:
Burgas Free University (Bulgaria)
EU-Track Multidisciplinary Research and Development Centre (Italy)
“Arturo Bianchini” Secondary High School (Italy)
Istanbul Ataturk Fen Lisesi /IAFL/ (Turkey)
"Ion Luca" Theoretical High School (Romania)
Vocational High School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronics /PGMEE/ (Bulgaria)
The DEV2.3 – GreenTeach Framework report will soon be available in Bulgarian, Romanian, Italian, and Turkish, ensuring broad accessibility and impact across all participating countries.
